New Delhi: A man was arrested on Thursday for pretending as a police officer, threating a woman and raping her in Delhi’s Prashant Vihar.
The incident occurred on the evening of July 7, when the woman was with her boyfriend in a car. Meanwhile, the accused, identified as Ravi Solanki, clicked photos and recorded video of the couple sitting in the car, secretly.
The accused chased the woman after her boyfriend dropped her outside her apartment. After the woman was alone in the staircase, the accused pretended to be a police officer showed her photos and video of her with boyfriend and threatened her. The accused raped the woman in staircase after threatening her to make the video viral.
After the incident, the woman called her boyfriend and informed him about the unforeseen incident. Along with the woman’s family, both went and filed a complaint at a police station.
With the help of CCTV footage, police arrested the accused on Thursday. A case was registered against the accused.
In another unrelated incident, the Gujarat Police on Sunday arrested a 21-year-old man for allegedly raping and killing a minor girl in Rajkot district. The accused has been identified as Jaydeep alias Jayu Parmar. The 13-year-old girl’s body was found in the Aji industrial area last week. The girl went missing on Tuesday.
Parmar is a native of Surendranagar district. He is reportedly a beggar. Parmar is also named in petty crimes like pickpocketing, reported The Times of India. As per the report, the girl had gone to collect firewood on the day when she went missing. When she did not return at night, her mother approached the police and lodged a missing complaint.
