The Indian team’s training session on Tuesday saw Rohit spending time to mentor youngsters, especially with reports of multiple debutants likely for the home team in the form of batter Sarfaraz Khan and wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel. KL Rahul has been ruled out due to injury, while glovesman KS Bharat’s batting has left a lot to be desired.
But while England named their playing eleven on Wednesday, bringing in pacer Mark Wood in place of spinner Shoaib Bashir, India will hold it until match-day to finalise their eleven.
After talking to youngsters and observing how they shaped up in the nets, it was Rohit’s turn to hit the nets in Tuesday’s net session and iron out any batting flaws that possibly led to his string of low scores so far in the five-match series that stands level at 1-1 heading into the third Test.
However, the skipper was in for a surprise.
Facing a net bowler, Rohit’s middle stump was sent cartwheeling with an in-swinging delivery and the next ball saw the Indian captain edging one that moved away from him, as reported by The Indian Express.
Holding his own, the rookie bowler just went about his business without reacting to the two deliveries that dismissed Rohit.
