The much-anticipated action-comedy Jailer hit theaters on Thursday, August 10. This marks the first collaboration between veteran actor Rajinikanth and filmmaker Nelson Dilipkumar, who is known for his work in Kolamaavu Kokila . Now, the early estimates for the first day are out.

Rajinikanth stareer Jailer India box office collection
The opening day witnessed a remarkable response for Jailer at India box office. According to a report in Sacnilk, the film made an impressive entry into theaters, garnering a nett collection of around Rs 44.50 crore across India for all languages. The gross collection even surpassed the Rs 50 crore mark on the very first day.

Initial estimates indicate that the Rajinikanth starrer managed to collect ₹52 crore gross on its opening day. The collection were distributed as follows: Rs 23 crore from Tamil Nadu, Rs 11 crore from Karnataka, Rs 10 crore from Andhra Pradesh, Rs 5 crore from Kerala and Rs 3 crore from other states. Jailer has recorded the third-highest opening for a film in India after Adipurush (Rs 140 crore)and Pathaan (Rs 68 crore).
Jailer dethrones Thunivu as highest-opener in Tamil Nadu
Within Tamil Nadu itself,Jaileremerged as a massive hit, raking in Rs 29.46 crore, as per Manobala. This impressive performance allowed it to secure the title of the highest Kollywood opener of the year. It surpassed previous records set by films like Thunivu (Rs 24.59 crore), Ponniyin Selvan 2 (Rs 21.37 crore), Varisu (Rs 19.43 crore), Maaveeran ( Rs 7.61 crore), Maamannan (Rs 7.12 crore), Vaathi (Rs 5.80 crore) and PathuThala (Rs 5.63 crore).
The release of Jailer brought throngs of enthusiastic fans to cinema halls in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Some fans displayed sheer excitement, even pushing their way through doors to secure their seats. The film’s popularity reached international shores as well, with a Japanese couple traveling all the way from Osaka to Chennai to witness.
