Makarand Patil, an NCP MLA from Maharashtra’s Satara district, said on Monday that he had joined the camp of senior party leader and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
Patil stated that he opted to join the Ajit Pawar camp in order to preserve two sugar plants in his constituency that are in financial trouble, as well as to promote development and resolve tourism-related concerns in Wai.
Notably, Patil was there during Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) founder Sharad Pawar’s visit to Karad city, just one day after Ajit Pawar and eight other MLAs joined the Shiv Sena-BJP coalition government.
The MLA said his name was among the nine NCP ministers sworn in last Sunday, including Ajit Pawar.
“But I told Ajit Pawar that I would have to consult my supporters and people from the constituency before taking any decision,” he told PTI.
