Ameesha Patel is riding high with the success of Gadar 2, as it has become the fastest film to enter the 500 crore club. The actress in an exclusive interview with ETimes, mentioned that talking about her relationship with Vikram Bhatt negatively impacted her career.
We have now got hold of an old interview wherein VikramBhatt addressed this issue, he mentioned how he and Ameesha both saw tough times when they were together but when the winds changed, their relationship had turned bitter. He added that when they were together, he was having a string of flops and she also was struggling with her projects. And as luck would have it, they broke off and his film 1920 was released which was a big hit and he followed it up with films like Shaapit and Haunted and during all that while, Ameesha was still struggling.
Vikram also highlighted that it was painful to see Ameesha lose her ground; she had back to back successes in Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha and Humraaz, and then she saw other actresses take over.
Vikram also mentioned that Ameesha had pinned a lot of hopes from Kunal Kohli’s Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, which also featured Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji, but unfortunately the film didn’t go as planned and she was in a lot of pain.
The actress in the past, has also mentioned that she was an outsider to enter the industry when only celebrity kids like Kareena Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Tusshar Kapoor, Esha Deol etc were around. She also said that her contemporaries couldn’t handle her success and there was jealousy and films being snatched from under her nose. There was also a lot of cutting her off from movies, which she did not realize at that time. Ameesha also said that she had signed some films and blocked dates, only to realize that she is not in the film a few months later and has been replaced.
